Stuff that I Wrote
Sometimes I think I should write something down, so I do. I post some of it here. You don't have to read it.
Prosaic Prose
- An Opportune Time (2020)
- Why the Rhinoceros Kicks His Dung All About (2013) (Alternate theory)
- Sorta the Brushoff (2012)
- What I Carried (2012)
- Best Laid Plans (2012)
accidentalintelligence.log
(2012) When I noticed the directory NotYou
apparently hacked into my file system, owned by the
nonexistent user with UID 65535
, I
panicked. Taking the system to supposedly secure single-user
mode, I found that the directory contained the single text
file, accidentalintelligence.txt
. I extracted the
relevant part of the log, but by now I have despaired of
tracing the source of the intrusion. I have no idea what led
to the sudden end of the story. If you have found another
version of the story, particularly in a different language, or
with some variation or additional information, please let me
know. As far as I can tell, the intruder did not damage my
system in any other way, but I continue to worry about some
problem that may manifest later.
- Search for Intelligible Lifeishness in the Ambiverse (2012)
- solipsoquy (2011)
- ... along the road ...
(1996 or 7) Not the Great American Novel. Not even the pretty
good Minnesotan short story. Just a could-be-worse sentence
fragment that I found in my head when I awoke one morning,
along with a mental image. I couldn't paint the image, so I
wrote down the sentence fragment.
- If only (whenever) The great
lost novel. This would have won all sorts of prizes. It would
have dazzled you. It would have made me a rich author, and an
immortal. Really.
Poetic Cons
- Fibs are a cool sort of poems
using Fibonacci numbers.
- American High Koo is a couplet
form sort of derived from haiku, but not really the same.
- Haiku seems to be finely tuned to
Japanese language, poetic custom, and culture, but I tried to
do something sorta similar.
